Auto renewal scam – the modern day Nigerian prince. Beware.

Can’t speak to the app as I didn’t find it noteworthy or groundbreaking in any way and canceled almost immediately. This is about terrible customer service and CRM. Received confirmation a month ago when I emailed to cancel. I am very on top of canceling subscriptions but companies like this are my nightmare. A month after receiving confirmation of cancelation, I was charged $60 and immediately forwarded them my previous correspondence, explaining that I had already canceled a month ago and wanted a refund.

Despite me clearly explaining the situation, with the forwarded thread with evidence, I received an extremely maddening response about how they’re very clear about their terms of service and that they wouldn’t be issuing me a refund. I replied by screenshotting my confirmation of cancelation (because apparently a forwarded thread wasn’t enough) and threatening to dispute with my bank. Again, for someone who despises sneaky recurring payments, this was a NIGHTMARE.

And honestly, any app that doesn’t allow you to cancel in-app is an absolute scam. They purposely left out that feature to scam you into auto-renewal payments.

My message to the company is this:

SHAME ON YOU for investing like $5 into a dumb quiz to trick procrastinators into your sneaky little auto-renewal scam. Charging $60 a month for a meaningless app that’s impossible to cancel easily, banking on the fact that people will forget to cancel or won’t notice when they do cancel and you actually haven’t fulfilled their request. This is a disgusting business practice. I will copy and paste this review everywhere to warn people to save their time and money. I hope y’all go out of business soon and that the genius responsible for this either gets caught as a scammer or never gets the opportunity to present a “genius idea” ever again.
